Farhang ABBASI, Professor of Polymer Engineering

Farhang Abbasi born 1969, obtained his MSc at the Amirkabir University of Technology, followed by a PhD in polymer engineering at the same university (2002). Subsequently, he joined Sahand University of Technology as an assistant professor in faculty of chemical engineering, then was head of research center for polymeric materials at SUT in 2003. He won the first prize of 9th Razi Medical Sciences Festival (medical instruments, discovery and invention division), IRAN, 2003. He was selected as top researcher of faculty of chemical engineering at SUT in 2003 and 2004. He was also the first winner of PhD Students Selection Award by Iran Polymer Engineering Society, IRAN, 2004. In 2005, he was selected as top researcher of engineering faculties at SUT. In 2008, he was selected as a top research manager of Iranian universities and research institutes. Presently, he is the head of Institute of Polymeric Materials (IPM) as well as head of Styrenic Polymers Excellence Center (SPEC) and works as a professor in Faculty of Polymer Engineering.
