PERSONAL STATEMENT
My laboratory in Sahand University of Technology (SUT) and Institute of Polymeric Materials (IPMs) is focused on the biomedical application of composite polymeric based materials for biomedical and drug delivery applications with a particular emphasis on cancer imaging and therapy. We have developed numerous microfluidic-assisted nanoparticle synthesis assays for integrated cancer diagnosis, imaging and therapy. I have the expertise, leadership, training, expertise and motivation necessary to successfully carry out the proposed research project.  I have a broad background in polymer science and engineering, with specific training and expertise in polymeric biomaterials and nanoparticles for drug delivery and prosthetic implants. The current research taking place at my laboratory and of my special interests are Microfluidic-Assisted Self-Assembly of Polymers for DDS, BioMEMS, silicon rigid microelectrode array (MEA) for DBS applications, neural-implants and neuroprosthesis and design and fabrication of graphene single-crystals for micro-chip applications and neuroprosthetic devices focusing on cochlear and retina implants. We are a research team mainly focused on the biomedical application of polymeric systems with complex architecture and functionalities. As PI or co-Investigator on several university, institutes and companies, I laid the groundwork for the proposed research by developing effective hybride nanoparticles as an integrated platform for effective diagnosis, multi-imaging and drug delivery system relevant to the cancereous cells and tissues, and by establishing strong ties with community providers that will make it possible to recruit and track participants over time as documented in the following publications.  In addition, I successfully administered the projects (e.g. staffing, research protections, budget), collaborated with other researchers, and produced several peer-reviewed publications from each project.  As a result of these previous experiences, I am aware of the importance of frequent communication among project members and of constructing a realistic research plan, timeline, and budget.  The current application builds logically on my prior work. As a result of these previous experiences, I am aware of the importance of frequent communication among project members and of constructing a realistic research plan, timeline, and budget. I am also happy to train the next generation of scientists to tackle the major problems in cancer research
